Code of Conduct

The Hack Team is committed to create a safe, inclusive, and amazing experience for every attendee joining our Events and Activities. Please note that the Hack Code of Conduct applies to any participants and attendees joining our Events and Activities, including but not limited to our attendees, volunteers, sponsors, employees and other service providers. Your attendance and participation in our Events and Activities implies that you have read, understood and agreed to the following Code of Conduct.

Rules of our Code of Conduct

By participating in any Hack Event, you are expected to respect everyone at the event regardless of their gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, or other aspects of what we look like, where we come from, and who we are.

We do not accept any kind of disrespectful behavior in any of our events. Hack Events are meant to be a 100% positive experience from the beginning till the end for everyone at the event. Disrespectful behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity, and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, age, or religion.

  • Deliberate intimidation and harassment of any form.

  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events.

  • Unsolicited physical contact.

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviours, including inappropriate comments and jokes within a professional setting.

  • Attendees violating these rules may be expelled from Hack Events at the discretion of the organisers and without prior notice.

  • We do not tolerate damage to property, or consumption of illicit drugs.

  • If you witness any of these behaviours please report to our HelpDeck or find a member of the Hack Team straight away.

At all time, we expect all parties to:

  • Show respect towards others at all times, including being considerate, cooperative and collaborative with all participants, attendees and staff members.

  • To contribute in creating a welcoming, safe and respectful environment. If you see someone behaving disrespectfully and feel safe and comfortable doing so, you are encouraged to discourage them from such behavior respectfully. If you do not feel safe, comfortable, or otherwise able to respond and resolve it respectfully, please immediately bring it to the attention of our HelpDeck or find a member of the Hack Team straight away. We will listen, assess and support within our capacity in resolving the issue.
